Intel introducing 34nm SSD 80GB/160GB

Several months ago to hear the news that Intel is being set up in the new SSD (solid state disk) with sub-40nm technologies. Today Intel also preach that the product is already present. shapes are the two SSD with 34nm process technology.

Same as previous versions, this new drive berabel X25-M. However, this new silver colored, not black like it. Perhaps this is also the reason why Intel said that they do not expect large differences from the benchmark-based applications.

According to Intel, NAND MLC-based SSD is 25% lower in latency for quick access when compared to X25-M 50nm. This new 80GB model delivers IOPS write 4KB of 6600, while the 160GB version presents a number 8600 IOPS. Duo new plume reaches the rate sekuensial read 250mb / s, with maximum sustained write rate 70MB / s.
If the speed increase is considered less impressive, the price certainly interesting for consumers. His implementation of the 34nm process lithografi cheaper cost, as well as costs in the die NAND chip which is the smaller. Currently, the price of X-25M 80GB version of the channel's U.S. $ 225 and 160GB versions valued U.S. $ 440 (both per unit in 1000). Both have been declining far than a year ago: U.S. $ 595 for the 80GB and U.S. $ 945 for 160GB).

SSD is 34nm Intel has begun marketed in the standard form factor 2.5 "(X25-M Mainstream SATA SSD). Meanwhile, version 1.8 "(X18-M Mainstream SATA SSD) will be introduced at the end of this quarter. both this drive with the same specification. Is just a different physical size.
